Identity Theft

Description

My sister and I before the Gallery opened. Sadly a poor photo, I was unable get many during the show.

These were handmade masks with faux fur, resin base, taxidermy eyes and mouth set. The Jaws move with mouth movement.

This piece was based on the ongoing issue of being a Twin. My sister and I dressed identical and wore our masks (made to look the same with subtle differences). We sat and walked around the gallery, one of us wore a tail. Throughout the piece, we'd steal the tail from the other one and wear it, we did not talk while in character, merely interacted with the public and each other. It was meant to symbolize the sense of identity loss and the fight that comes with being a twin, you accept the similarities but continue to struggle with your own separate identity from each other.

EDIT: Better photo now in gallery.

ooh, that's a very interesting concept! And you've done a great job on these masks as well! : D
